𝐈 𝐚𝗺 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐥𝐢𝐞 𝐏𝗼𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥, 𝐚 𝐬𝗺𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝗼𝐰𝐧 𝐠𝐢𝐫𝐥, living in Russell Springs, Kentucky. I spent my teenage years trying to find a ticket out of town and life brought me full circle back here to raise my family. I wouldn’t have it any other way living the small town life with my husband Jared, and two teenagers – Lilly and Kinnett. We love living close to family and enjoy going to the lake, traveling, and gathering with friends and family when we can.
I am passionate about helping little girls feel beautiful and helping ladies feel confident in their clothing. I have always loved fashion and so blessed to have stumbled upon this company. I had worked in pharmaceutical sales for almost 6 years when a merger forced me out of one career and gave me confidence to try staying at home. While I loved my babies (who were 17 months apart), I knew immediately I needed interaction outside of the home. Funny how god opens doors when you need a change. Matilda Jane was just starting and I knew that I was meant to be apart of the company. Sometimes you just know right? MJ was so new, no track record, no established customers, no brand recognition, but it just felt right!
𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐈 𝐚𝗺! So many years later, having met the most incredible ladies along the way! I am so thankful for each and every customer through the years. The most unexpected blessing from starting my own MJ business is that I would have the opportunity to empower others to follow along…to dream big, to not settle, and to stay focused on the big picture always even though day to day business can be difficult. Leading others has become my true passion and playing dress up… well it’s a great perk.❤️
How it all began:
It truly seems like yesterday that I made that phone call and Denise answered the phone. I stumbled upon this little company that I had never heard of in 2007 but something about it caught my attention. I remember telling Denise that I discovered her website and asked if she had an opening in Kentucky. Next thing I knew, I had a beautiful box of clothing sitting on my front porch, a rack I didn’t know how to put together, and zero customers. I had no idea who would love this unique style as much as I did or if I would be successful. I was looking for flexibility to be home with my babies and felt a nudge from God to give this a try.
CELEBRATING 25 SEASONS
That was the beginning of my journey of helping “keep little girls little” and mom happy too. It’s been a beautiful journey, meeting some amazing ladies along the way all across the country. Little did I know that the unintended consequence of taking a leap of faith would open so much more than I knew possible.
I love this picture someone captured as I was accepting my 25th longevity Award. I love it because what you can’t see in this picture is a room full of Trunk Keepers and leaders that I get to work with daily.
Ladies who said yes to the same MJ opportunity I did. Ladies who are not only building large businesses and teams but also their confidence! Ladies who are contributing to their family finances and replacing full time job incomes with this little “side hustle”. Ladies who hold each other accountable and cheer each other on and when necessary, ladies who pick you up when needed as it isn’t always easy.
As the saying goes… No one said it would be easy…. but it would be worth it! Team Paperdolls…you have my heart!
I am so glad I took the step, made the call and began this journey with Matilda Jane Company.
Leslie Popplewell has always been our trunk keeper, but she is definitely more than that, I am so blessed to call her my friend! She is so knowledgeable of the sizes and styles. She is one of the most encouraging ladies I have ever met! I always look forward to seeing the new clothing at the release, but to be honest I love going and visiting with the ladies and little girls! I look forward to many more years of buying Matilda Jane maybe even for my grandkids one day!!! I hope Leslie sticks around that long, I can’t imagine Matilda Jane without her!!!!
